Project Manager (Research and Development)


Stellenbosch, Western Cape



An experienced technically orientated individual with project management background is required to manage the complete life cycle (scope, time, cost and quality management & reporting & risk and procurement management) of research and development projects.

Plan, coordinate and execute research projects.
Work with management to prepare project plan, budget and schedules.
Conduct team meetings to discuss project status and issues.
Monitor project progress regularly and report the same to management and customers.
Lead research team to complete projects within the agreed time frame, cost and as per defined and expected quality.
Pro-actively identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues, in order to facilitate on-time delivery.
Address project issues and escalate complex issues to management.
Perform day-to-day management of project team and address any team issues promptly.
Act as primary contact for client communications.
Report project progress, status, and issues to client on regular basis.
Prepare project documentation and research reports for management review.




2+ years related experience
Bachelor's degree or higher
or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Project Management certifications


Preferred experience:

2+ years Project Management experience
Proven record of accomplishment in project delivery
Experience with Project Management methodologies & tools



Detail-oriented and able to effectively prioritize tasks
Superb planning, coordination, and leadership skills
Ability to communicate with stakeholders from diverse functional areas
Must be a critical thinker and a resourceful problem-solver
Excellent verbal and written communication
Computer literate
Leadership skills
Must be business and technology orientated



Excellent attention to detail & analytical
Excellent organization and coordination skills
Excellent at problem-solving with a ‘can do’ attitude
Trustworthy and reliable
Must be an excellent communicator, collaborator and “people person” capable of sharing a vision, aligning people, focusing efforts and motivating a team.
Ability to multi-task
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with the involved stakeholders.
